If your employer’s plan is trusteed by PBGC or ended in a standard termination, your next step is to determine if you earned a benefit while the plan was ongoing and if you are still owed that benefit. Each pension plan has different rules. If you do not have a copy of your summary plan description that describes those rules, PBGC may be able to provide you with a copy.
